Sponsor A Dog

Thanks for clicking! Below you can find the dogs available for sponsorship!

Each dog costs the shelter around 45 euros every month that they're in the shelter and we are taking in new arrivals all the time. These costs do not include emergency vet bills. Please help us by giving what you can on to cover these costs. That way we can take in new dogs off the street or rescue them from horrible living conditions. Every dog deserves a happy life in their forever home. Thank you so much for visiting our website and for supporting us in our mission.

Milas is 1 year old and has been at the shelter since he was found in the middle of the road all by himself when he was just a baby. He has a very long nose which gives him a cartoon-like face!  Milas loves people, he has a sweet and soft personality and is very affectionate. Like all our dogs, he can't wait to get to his forever home! Can you sponsor him until he gets there?

Milas loves to be naughty; if you choose him then expect updates like videos of him emptying out the newly filled water buckets with a cheeky look on his face while he's splashing around in the water!

Bowie is a little Melez legend. A small dog with a big personality, this feisty little girl doesn't back down from any challenge in life! We rescued Bowie from the government shelter. Unfortunately, we know nothing about her life before she ended up in the shelter, but ending up in the government shelter almost cost her her life. As a young dog without a fully developed immune system, she immediately caught Distemper. She was in a terrible state when she came to us, and every day was a huge battle for survival. We started her treatment straight away, but her body was already so weak, that she got worse and worse. Even though her body was weak and she was really struggling, Bowie's fighter spirit pulled her through, and she never gave up. She overcame some truly terrible days, and ended up defeating the Distemper virus! She was left paralysed in her back legs, and with severe tics. But once again, Bowie didn't let this get her down! With a little help from us, within a few weeks Bowie had regained control of first one, then both, hind legs and had started walking again. Bowie is getting stronger every day. She can now walk and run, and is surprisingly fast! Her severe tics still remain, and we give her pain killers for this. Bowie is the biggest diva we have at Melez! She lives freely in front of the enclosure together with our colony of stray cats. She adores people, and wants to be around people all the time. She also photobombs every single photoshoot we do with the other dogs for their adoption profiles. She's a star and she knows it, and she wants the spotlight to be on her! Sponsor Bowie to help us pay for her supplements and painkillers, so we can help her continue to get better and stronger, and live a happy, comfortable life.

Philo came into our care in the summer of 2023, when he was about 1 year old. Poor Philo had been through a lot in his short life.. He was living on the streets when he was hit by a truck. He broke his leg, his hip and his spine in the accident, leaving him paralysed from the waist down. He was found by animal lovers, who brought him to a vet for treatment.

Philo's situation was so complicated, that he really needed treatment by a specialist, but as none were available in the region, a local vet did the best they could. Unfortunately, this meant that much of his operation was improvised, and the proecdure wasn't a complete success.

Thanks to the vet's work, Philo regained control of his back legs, and he is now able to walk again. But his broken leg ended up much shorter than his other legs, and he cannot fully use it. The pins and plates in his spine are also causing allergic reactions in his body, causing constant fistula's on his back. There is a risk of him becoming paralysed again if the plates are removed.

Despite everything, Philo is a happy boy, who is shy and scared of strangers, but who is so loving and loyal once he gets to know you! He loves following us around the enclosure whilst we're cleaning, enthusiastically poking his head between our legs or arms to try to get cuddles.
Philo's journey will be a long one, as we are constantly trying to evaluate what options we have available to try to make his life more comfortable.

By sponsoring Philo, you will help fund this journey, and hopefully we can give him a happy, comfortable life together!

Once weak and timid, she's now thriving and stirring up joyful chaos with her doggy pals, always at the center of the fun.

Still happiest when surrounded by her furry friends, Winnie’s zest, resilience, and comic timing make her a one-of-a-kind pup to adore.

The boy who wants to leave the shelter so badly! Despite this, he has never received an adoption request. Our one-eyed big boy Kofte arrived with us 2 years ago. He had been rescued from the government shelter as a tiny puppy of only 2-3 months old. When he was found in the shelter, his body was shutting down from malnutrition, but he made a miraculous recovery and grew into a healthy, strong giant!

We don't know what happened to his right eye, but Kofte doesn't let being one-eyed get in the way of being a happy, excited boy! Kofte is a strong, energetic, playful dog, who would love to spend most of his days exploring.

Caro is one big bundle of love who truly doesn’t know his own size. With his strong build and soulful eyes, he might look imposing at first—but spend just a few moments with him and you’ll see he’s all heart. Caro adores people and greets everyone with the same joyful enthusiasm, whether you’re a familiar face or someone he’s meeting for the first time.

He’s convinced he’s a lap dog and will try to climb into your arms for cuddles and kisses, completely unaware of how much space he actually takes up.

Rescued from a risky life on the streets in Turkey, Nelly's gentle spirit shone through despite hardship. She’s a cuddly lap-lover, playful with dogs and cats, and beautifully social—just a bit shy outside the shelter.

Born with a deformed front paw, she's had no major health issues and walks well; amputation is optional if advised. A well-vetted sweetheart, Nelly's charm, resilience, and loving nature make her an absolute gem for adoption!
