❄ What makes Snowy special: his crooked front leg, a genetic anomaly for which no treatment is recommended. Fortunately, Snowy is not bothered by it, and he runs, jumps, and climbs like the best of them!

Snowy came joined the Melez enclosure in late 2025. Snowy used to be a stray dog who lived on the campus of the local university and was cared for by the students. He had a relatively happy and peaceful life there, until the campus management wanted to get rid of him. Snowy is a friendly dog who is absolutely no threat to people and was no nuisance to anyone, yet his presence on campus was enough to make some people so uncomfortable that he had to go. They called the government shelter to pick him up, where he would almost certainly have died immediately. The animal lovers who cared for him found out in time and asked us for help. Snowy moved into the Melez shelter just in time.

Snowy is a young dog with a cheerful, enthusiastic character.

He has a crooked front paw. This is a congenital defect and therefore not the result of an accident or damage to his paw. The vets examined him thoroughly and do not recommend operating on this paw. However, Snowy may have a greater predisposition to osteoarthritis later in life. Supplements could help him manage his condition.

But anyone who thinks that Snowy is somehow bothered by that paw is mistaken. He is an incredibly cheerful, energetic, and athletic little dog who absolutely does not let his crooked paw hold him back! In fact, he climbs effortlessly onto the highest doghouses to tower over everyone and get a panorama view of the entire kennel. It is also the ultimate way to literally stand out above the other dogs and demand plenty of attention. Just look at him sitting there; a king has nothing on him!

Snowy is incredibly playful and active, and he loves running around and playing. Both with toys and with other dogs. He does this with great enthusiasm and dedication. Barking with delight, he can happily burn off his energy. It is wonderful to witness his enthusiasm.

Snowy often finds new dogs intimidating. He needs a moment to get used to them. He often finds (large) male dogs particularly impressive, and he sometimes doesn't quite know how to react. But once he's used to them, he is friends with anyone who wants to play with him. Snowy particularly likes female dogs, and he always has at least one or two in his kennel with whom he plays constantly.

Snowy is crazy about people and gets really happy when he receives attention. He really enjoys meeting new people, as long as he gets cuddled! That is, in fact, one of his hobbies. He likes a lot of attention, but he doesn't cling to you; once he has received enough cuddles and sees that you are busy with something else, he simply goes back to minding his own business.

Snowy walks well on a leash and enjoys being outdoors. He lived on the streets, but in a reasonably quiet neighbourhood. So he is used to people constantly walking past him and sounds around him. He is absolutely not fazed by this. He is not used to busier areas with a lot of traffic, but given his happy character and his focus on people, we think he will be highly trainable. With a gradual build-up and the right guidance, we believe he will be able to learn a lot and handle many different situations and environments.

In short: are you looking for a cheerful, energetic, athletic, playful, social, and sweet dog? Then look no further, Snowy is your dog! He loves tagging along with your adventures and will become your new BBF in no time! Get your cuddles ready…

Snowy is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
