❄ Sammy's favourite hobby: Sammy is a nosy little dog, who likes to get involved in the daily activities in the enclosure. He frequently comes to 'help out' by getting in the way during the morning cleaning rounds!

Meet handsome Sammy - and yes, he is just as sweet as he looks!. What you see is what you get! He's a very gentle dog with a sensitive nature. He's absolutely not suited for life on the streets or in a shelter…

Sammy came into our care in the summer of 2025 after being rescued from a government shelter. Unfortunately we don't know anything about his past and whether he had a home before, or whether he grew up as a stray. He ended up in the government shelter in an overcrowded kennel. With government shelters far over capacity as a result of the Massacre Law, there isn't enough food for all the dogs and poor Sammy frequently had to go without eating. He started growing weaker and weaker and thinner and thinner...

Sammy is the most gentle, soft-natured dog, and he had no way of standing up for himself and fighting for survival...
When he arrived with us, Sammy was a walking skeleton. Thankfully, all it took was a few weeks of proper care and good meals for him to bounce back!

When Sammy first arrived in the enclosure, he was completely overwhelmed and found life in such a busy environment very nerve-racking. He would desperately seek support from people, pressing himself right up against your legs to feel safe.

Now he's settled in well and really enjoys life with his kennelmates. He gets along with every dog and is very playful. He loves playing with the other dogs in the kennel and is very friendly to new dogs.

He also likes people. He always comes to greet you cheerfully and immediately wants a good cuddle. But not for too long, because after a nice petting, he'll soon be back to playing. So he does come for a dose of attention, but he isn't clingy. He simply gets the best of both worlds: attention and play. What a smart dog!

Outside the enclosure, Sammy is still a bit nervous. What does that look like? Everything about him shows that he feels uneasy and restless: he pulls on the lead, looks left, looks right, and tries to focus everything at once, and is unable to calm down. His nerves also make it hard for him to focus his attention on you. It really takes a while before he feels safe enough to find some peace and quiet, to stand still for a moment or sit down.

But Sammy doesn't try to run away or hide, even in a traffic-filled area. He still walks well on the lead, without trying to escape. He isn't afraid, but he is insecure and uneasy. He needs to gain some confidence, and hopefully, he can build that with you. How wonderful it would be for him to learn that walks can also bring peace and calm!

What's special about Sammy is that, even when he's nervous and on edge outside the kennel, he is still very friendly to everyone: he loves being around people and greets them enthusiastically (even when he's stressed). He also enjoys meeting other dogs in that stressful situation.

In short, all the ingredients for wonderful walks are there. Now he just needs to find some self-confidence so he can learn to be more relaxed... We hope you'll help him with that!

Sammy would thrive in a quiet, stable home, with an adopter(s) who have the love and patience to let him settle in peacefully, so he can decompress and feel completely safe before they explore the world together.

Sammy will be incredibly grateful to be adopted and will be a true companion for his adopter(s). He's eagerly awaiting you!

Sammy is currently in Turkey and will be ready to travel to the EU/UK from September onwards.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
