❄ What makes Ranger special: his trademark soft, loving looks. When he wants attention, he will look you in the eyes with a hopeful gaze, patiently waiting to be cuddled!

We rescued Ranger from the government shelter in the summer of 2025.
He is yet another abandoned hunting dog, one of many in Turkey. The vet estimates that he is around 8 years old. Most likely he was a loyal companion to his owner his whole life, but once he got too old and slow for the hunt, his owner heartlessly abandoned him in the government shelter. Ranger is covered in scars, and it looks like he has been through a lot in his life... Despite this, he is the sweetest boy! He is calm and gentle and he absolutely adores people. He follows us around everywhere, quietly hoping for more cuddles, but never making a fuss.

Ranger is a real charmer! He's very sweet and calm in the enclosure. While other dogs often act hyper and chaotic because they want attention, Ranger hangs out at the back of the kennel and looks at you patiently with his hopeful, loving eyes. He's truly irresistible.

Because he is so quiet in asking for attention, it is easy to overlook him in the crowded enclosure. But he is so happy when someone pets him! He thoroughly enjoys a good cuddle, but he's absolutely not pushy or in-your-face.

When he can get attention, he's completely happy, but if you're busy doing something else, he'll leave you alone and won't pester you.

Ranger is very confident and isn't a shy dog.

He's also very easygoing with new people. He likes everyone. He instantly loves everyone he meets!

Ranger is calm and quiet in the busy enclosure, but outside of the enclosure, he's a bit more energetic.

You've probably already seen his nose in the photos. This nose works exceptionally well.

Ranger has a hunting instinct and can pull on the lead if he sees or smells something he wants to chase. His adopter will have to work on this with him.

Ranger is confident when out for walks. He's not easily startled by crowds or noises.

In general, Ranger is social with other dogs, but he finds the chaos of living with so many dogs in the enclosure rather overwhelming, and prefers to be a bit more solitary.

He gets along well with the dogs in his kennel, but doesn't interact with them very much.

What other dogs absolutely shouldn't do is "claim his food." He makes it very clear that his food is his and his alone.

Although he does defend his food from other dogs, he doesn't mind people interfering with his food at all. He is very sweet and gentle towards people in all situations.

Ranger would love a peaceful home: living in a house away from the chaotic scenes of the Melez enclosure. A place where he can live at his own pace. A place where he gets lots of cuddles and can enjoy plenty of walks.

Ranger is a sweet and easygoing dog who is definitely suitable for inexperienced adopters. Adopters should, however, be mindful of his hunting instincts and be willing to work on this with him.

Ranger is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU or the Uk

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
