❄ What makes Prince special: Prince has a bad back leg, which he uses most of the time, but which does sometimes cause him discomfort.
Prince came into our care in the summer of 2024.
Prince was found all alone on the streets in a terrible state. His fur was completely matted, with lots of dried up excrement tangled in his fur on his backside. He was covered in fleas and ticks. He had most likely been hit by a car and had injured both his back leg and his eye. He was found by animal lovers, who immediately called us for help. Prince moved into the Melez enclosure where he recoverd and turned into the most loving boy!
Prince is the sweetest, most easy-going, most social dog in the Melez enclosure. He is our number one star social dog and he gets along with absolutely everyone. It is heartbreaking that such a sweet dog, with such a wonderful temperament, has been unable to find a home due to his bad back leg.
Prince adores people. He does a happy dance every morning when he sees us and excitedly jumps into our arms. When you pick him up, he will smother you with kisses! Prince is excited to meet everyone who visits the enclosure and loves getting attention from both men and women, and both strangers and people he knows. He has so much love to give!
Although Prince is much more focused on people than on other dogs, he does get along well with all the other dogs in his kennel. He has been friends with every dog he has shared a kennel with since he came into our care and lives together with his kennel mates in harmony. He is very friendly when meeting new dogs. He is also very friendly towards cats.
Prince is a confident dog who walks well on the lead and likes going out for walks to explore new places. He is very comfortable in even in busy environments and would love to be able to accompany his adopter when out and about. He is a very obedient dog who happily goes along with any plan. He just loves spending time with people!
Prince has a bad back leg, most likely caused by being hit by a car when when he was living on the streets. The impact of the accident caused multiple breaks in his leg and hip and led to a patella luxation (dislocating kneecap). Usually surgery would be advised for this, but in Prince's case due to the damage to his bones, an operation is unlikely to be successful and is therefore not advised. Prince uses his leg without any problems most of the time, but sometimes his leg does bother him and he tends to hold it up when he runs. Supplements may help Prince and he may need pain management when he gets older.
Prince is a truly special dog: he is a dog who has been through pain, fear and abandonment and has come out as the sweetest, happiest and most loving dog there is! He deserves a very special home and we very much hope someone will adopt him and love him even with his bad leg.
