❄ What makes Perry special: When Perry is very happy, he starts singing with excitement!
Perry came to our enclosure in the spring of 2025.
Perry was rescued from the municipal animal shelter in north-eastern Turkey, a conservative part of the country where dogs are not always treated kindly. He was sitting in the overcrowded state shelter with no hope for a better life. We know nothing about Perry's past, but it is likely that he is a hunting dog who was abandoned because he was not good enough at hunting. Perry has an incredibly sweet, gentle nature, and it is hard to imagine how he survived the harsh conditions in which hunting dogs are kept in Turkey. When he came to us, he was in terrible condition: He was emaciated and had a terribly matted coat. Despite everything, Perry was so happy when he came to us. He was grateful to finally be safe!
Perry is a very sweet dog with a sensitive, gentle character. However, he is very enthusiastic and energetic and is almost always ‘hyper’ in the enclosure.
We think this is partly due to his own energetic character, but also because he is overstimulated in the hectic enclosure. We assume that he always likes to run around and be active, but in the right home, we believe he will be able to learn to find his peace and quiet and thus be much calmer in general.
Perry is an incredibly affectionate dog and he loves people. He would love to get more attention than we can currently give him. At the moment, he gets wildly excited when people enter his kennel. If he could talk, he would definitely say, ‘Can I come with you, then we can do something really great together!’
If he gets enough attention every day, we think he can be a much calmer dog.
When Perry is very excited, especially when he sees visitors coming or food arriving, he can even start singing with excitement! Whether it's perfect is questionable, but he tries very hard every day!
Perry is incredibly sweet to people. He loves everyone he meets and wants to greet them all. He is not afraid of new people; he likes everyone. That's why we give him the title ‘everyone's friend’.
He is also a real cuddler: he loves to lie on your lap or in your arms. Wonderful!
He can sometimes be a little nervous around other dogs, but he fits in well with the group in his kennel and is friends with all the dogs he shares the kennel with.
Sharing attention is not his strong suit. Once he has attention, he likes to keep it for himself. If another dog comes to him, he can sometimes be a little jealous. That's why we think Perry would be happiest as the only dog. But he would also get along well with another stable, social dog.
Outside the enclosure, Perry is enthusiastic and energetic. Getting some fresh air and running around makes him really happy. He walks well on a lead and enjoys exploring his surroundings. Perry seems to have a hunting instinct. Sniffing, sniffing and more sniffing. That's his great passion!
However, we notice that he is sensitive, and when he gets scared, he immediately becomes very submissive. If he thinks someone is angry with him, he immediately lies down on the ground and shows his belly.
Once, he was scratched by a cat outside the enclosure, and since then, he trembles all over when he sees a cat. He is a sensitive soul who would certainly not have been suited to life on the streets...
It is important for Perry to have adoptive parents who have an active lifestyle and enjoy taking him to places where he can run around a lot. At the same time, he needs a quiet daily routine in order to recover well and build self-confidence.
It is also really important that his adoptive parents are patient with him and do not scare him with a heavy hand.

Perry is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/United Kingdom.
The dogs are microchipped, vaccinated against rabies and mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and defleaed, and tested for heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. Before travelling, the dogs will have a final check-up with the vet. If necessary, their teeth will be cleaned and X-rays will be taken of any areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues known to us will be communicated to you in advance.
