❄ What makes Paisley unique: Paisley is a real lady - and behaves like royalty!
Paisley came to our shelter in the spring of 2025.
Paisley was rescued from the municipal shelter in north-eastern Turkey, a conservative part of the country where dogs are not always treated kindly. She was in the overcrowded government shelter, with no hope for a better life. Paisley is an abandoned hunting dog. She was probably never loved by her previous owner, but was only valued for her hunting abilities and was abandoned when she was no longer good enough.
Because of her beautiful coloured coat, we named her Paisley, or would ‘Lady Paisley’ be more appropriate for this lady? She looks like she's from a noble family, she sits so elegantly. That way she can keep an eye on everything and everyone. She's calm and quiet, and doesn't really get involved with the younger dogs who are always running around and playing chaotically. She keeps her distance and seeks peace and quiet, as if to say ‘please, I'm here for my peace and quiet’. She gets along well with all the dogs at the shelter. She is friendly towards every dog she meets. She just doesn't like it when things get too wild.
Paisley loves people. She is very affectionate and craves attention. She has a signature pose with which she asks for attention: while other dogs are jumping wildly over each other to get attention, Paisley seems to think, ‘Oh no, I won't stoop to that boisterous behaviour.’ She sits neatly at a distance in a beautiful, dignified pose, with a nice straight back. She then looks at you with her big eyes. She keeps this up until you come over to pet her. A staredown is nothing compared to this; she persists until she gets that attention. She is a real charmer!
But even real ladies have a side that is a little less ladylike, and for Paisley, that side comes out when she is around water. She loves water and likes to lie in water bowls and puddles.
Outside the shelter, Paisley walks well on a leash and is very confident. At the same time, she is curious and stubborn.
Once outside, Paisley puts her nose to the ground. She is a hunting dog and picks up all kinds of scents flawlessly. Her hunting instinct makes her eager to explore, and she follows her nose. She is persistent, even if you try to get her to go the other way. Let's be honest, why would you go left when you smell something delicious on the right?
But since it's nicer when you're both going in the same direction, there is room for improvement here.
In summary: Paisley is a fantastic dog and one of Melez's favourite dogs. She is beautiful, sweet to everyone, gets along well with other dogs, is incredibly loving towards people and loves water. She is, as they say, a real gem!
Paisley is currently staying in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU or the UK.
The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and defleaed and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma.
The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated to you beforehand.
