❄ What makes Ora special: her unique black and brindle markings

I found these Ora and her sister Myra roaming the streets on my way to the dog enclosure one morning. They were all alone and they were confused and scared.. They were covered in ticks and were very hungry. Most probably they were abandoned by their mother's owner because they are female. In rural areas of Turkey, female dogs are not wanted, and people prefer male dogs. Having to get females spayed is seen as a big inconvenience, and isn't something people want to have to deal with, so getting a male dog is seen as an easier option. As the dogs are kept outdoors, they are usually able to interact with street dogs, and if a female ends up pregnant this is a hassle for the owner, whereas if a male runs off and gets a street dog pregnant they feel that this is not the owner's problem..

It is unlikely that they ever had much positive interaction with people before I found them, and Ora was shy and unsure of me, but she quickly learned to trust once she was safely in our enclosure!

Ora was a very shy puppy, but she has made amazing progress and has really come out of her shell. She is a pretty quiet dog, but she has gained lots of confidence and has learned to love people. Ora is now very affectionate and she likes getting attention from both men and women. She is also happy to meet strangers and will come up for a sniff and some cuddles straight away.

Ora walks well on the lead and enjoys going out for walks. She can sometimes be spooked by passing traffic, but she adapts quickly and doesn't try to run away.

Ora gets along well with other dogs and likes playing with both the smaller and the larger dogs in the enclosure. She doesn't like sharing her food with other dogs, but doesn't try to steal the other dogs' food.

Ora is a really sweet girl and she has lots of potential! We know that once she has a safe, stable home with a loving family, she will gain even more confidence, and really turn into a happy dog!

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
