❄ What makes Oliver unique: Oliver has brown eyes, but one of his eyes has a tiny sliver of bright blue in  them!

Oliver was rescued from a government shelter in the North of Turkey. The conditions in the local government shelter here are truly terrible, and in the cold winters, the dogs live in the freezing mud for months. Oliver is an abandoned hunting dog with a gentle, sensitive character. He is completely unsuited for the harsh life in a government shelter, and he was shutting down when rescuers found him. He was sitting in a corner, barely moving, and was refusing to eat. Who knows how much longer he would have lasted if they hadn't found him. His rescuers reached out to us for help, and we agreed to take Oliver in and help him find the forever home he so deserves.

Oliver is a handsome, sweet dog with an outgoing character, who never puts up a fuss.

He tries very hard to be odedient and do what people want him to do. Feel free to call him a 'people pleaser'! We also consider him the ultimate 'good boy'.

Oliver is very focused on people, and is very cuddly. He craves lots of physical contact with people, and when he wants attention, he will put his head on your lap or jump up into your arms and hold on to you, happily wagging his tail. He never misses a moment to get some cuddles! Whilst we are going about our chores of cleaning his kennel, he will often come to say hello and ask to be petted.

His 'trademark move' is giving kisses! He does this to both people and to other dogs. He truly has so much love to give!

Oliver is very enthusiastic when he meets new people, and he isn't shy or scared when interacting with strangers.

In general, he is a pretty outgoing, confident dog: he walks well on a lead (although he does pull out of excitement), isn't scared when out for walks in new environments, doesn't get startled by traffic or strangers, and loves going out exploring with you. Although he does everything with great enthusiasm, you can see the typical nervous Setter energy in Oliver. He constantly seeks reassurance / confirmation, or perhaps even approval, from you.

He can also cling to you if he finds something stressful.

And while it is very sweet that he looks to you for reassurance, it would be good for him to learn to be a bit more independent. This is something his adopter may need to work on him with. We expect that Oliver will enjoy training, as he loves to work with his human.

Oliver is generally very social towards other dogs and fits in well in the pack in his kennel. If he likes another dog, he becomes best friends immediately, and he has several BFFs in the enclosure.

When he likes another dog, he constantly gives the other dog kisses, and spends lots of time licking their faces. He also enjoys sharing his bed or blanket. When he encounters a dog he doesn't like, he might bark briefly to communicate that he doesn't want any interaction. This happens rarely, and generally speaking, he gets along well with almost all dogs.

Oliver is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
