❄ What makes Nikki unique: Nikki is completely unaware of her size and thinks she's a lap dog!

Nikki's sad story shows how by opening your home to foster or adopt a dog you can really save a life...

Nikki was living as a stray together with her two friends outside a factory. The three dogs were always together and were always in the same spot, fed by an animal loving employee. They minded their own business and never bothered anyone, but their presence was enough to make the factory workers uncomfortable. Every day, the animal lover feeding them would receive complaints and threats that people were going to do something to get rid of the dogs. Not wanting them to be harmed, the animal lover asked us for help.

Unfortunately, our enclosure was over capacity and because we struggle to find homes for large dogs, we had to turn Nikki and her friends down, promising that we would take them in as soon as space opened up.

Whilst they were waiting to be saved, we lost two of the dogs. One of them disappeared, and no-one knows what happened to her, and the other was hit by a motorcycle in broad daylight right in front of the factory and died. These are lives we could have saved if we had had the space for them.. By fostering or adopting a dog, you are not only transforming that dog's life, you are also opening up space in the shelter, enabling us to save another life!

In the end it was just Nikki left, and we brought her to the enclosure before it was too late for her as well..

Nikki is a friendly, social dog who get along with everyone. She loves space and freedom, but also craves the security of a good home.

Nikki is very confident and loves to go for walks and explore. She's always the first in line when the lead is brought out. Always happy and enthusiastic!

But once the walk is over, she never wants to go back to her kennel... She really needs more space, and this is something she simply doesn't have living in a kennel.

Because she's lived on the streets her whole life, she's used to being able to do her own thing and explore on her own. Therefore, it took her a while to get used to walking on a lead, but now she walks well. So we have seen that she is very open to being trained.

When she lived on the streets, she accepted her curbside spot outside the factory as her home and never strayed too far from where she felt at home and safe. She would take short walks around the neighborhood, and then she always came back. We think she'll absolutely love having a proper home, a permanent base where she'll feel truly safe and secure. But outside of that, she'll still love lots of walking and exploring. And a garden where she can sniff around would be absolutely fantastic!

Despite her size, Nikki is very agile. She loves to climb on things and prefers to be high up, keeping an eye on the enclosure. She loves to sit on the lookout, watching and keeping an eye on everything and everyone.

Nikki is a very social dog and gets along well with other dogs. She enjoys a bit of rough play, so she gets along best with large, strong dogs. Her favourite dogs in the enclosure are all females, but she also gets along well with males.

Nikki loves people and is so excited when we have visitors. She completely forgets how big she is and jumps up enthusiastically, throwing her two long front legs in the air!

If you sit down in the enclosure, you're guaranteed to get Nikki with both paws on your shoulders and her nose in your hair for a cuddle. She still needs to learn the concept of personal space!

We're looking for a place for Nikki where she has plenty of space, where she has the opportunity to roam around and  sniff all the new smells, and where she has someone who will take her for walks often. Someone who can provide her with a stable home.

You'll get a sweet, sociable, and enthusiastic dog who loves to cuddle, and would love to explore the world with you, and then go home, tired but very satisfied, to her bed, thrilled that she no longer has to live in a kennel.

Nikki is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
