❄ What makes Miru unique: her 'meerkat' tail: always straight up in the air, and with meerkat-like brown stripes!

Miru came to our care in the summer of 2025.

Little Miru had a home before, but was abandoned on the streets with her collar still on. As a tiny little dog, Miru had no way of fending for herself as a stray, but this clever girl managed to get herself rescued! A group of animal lovers stopped to pet her and then kept on walking, and she followed them everywhere for the next 20 minutes. Seeing how desperately she wanted to be saved, they walked to our enclosure and Miru followed them there.

Miru wasn't chipped, so we had no way of tracking down her previous owner. It is unlikely that she was properly cared for or loved in her previous home...

But all of that is about to change now!

Miru is a small dog with a big personality!

She's an energetic, adventurous, and confident dog who likes to call the shots. If she wants to play, she'll play.

She's very gentle with people and loves to lead the way!

Miru is very social and absolutely loves other dogs, especially small ones. She can sometimes find large dogs a bit intimidating, but she loves small dogs! She has a few BFFs at the shelter with whom she plays non-stop.

If one of her friends wants a break, Miru won't let them. She keeps challenging and inviting them to play. So sometimes you have to rescue a tired, exhausted dog from Miru, who's still enthusiasticly and playfully hanging on to them! Miru always causes lots of entertainment and laughs in the enclosure.
 

In the enclosure, Miru only has eyes for her friends and isn't very interested in people. Outside of the shelter, she's more focused on people and happily lets herself be petted for a cuddle. But she doesn't need those cuddles don't to last very long, because Miru wants to go out and explore new places!

Miru is very confident on a lead and loves to go for a nice walk. With her nose in the air and tail in the wind, she happily walks ahead of you.
 

She's generally very easygoing and gentle with people, and lets herself be handled without a fuss. She enjoys being around people, but her passion in life is playing with other dogs; that's what truly makes her happy!

Miru would be happiest in a home with another (energetic) dog with whom she can run and play freely. She would be well-suited for a home with an (active) dog already living with the adopter, but an adopter can also choose to adopt Miru together with a friend from our enclosure. Our volunteers are happy to help you find out which dogs are a good match for Miru.

As long as Miru has a canine companion to play with, she's happy!

 

Miru is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.

Our dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
