❄ What makes Lani special: Her freckles!

Lani came into our care in the spring of 2025.

Lani was one of our government shelter rescues after the Massacre Law came into effect. She had been in the shelter for a while and was coping ok. Every time we visited, we saw that she was trying to make the most of her situation, and was playing with her kennel mates. But as the shelter is getting more and more overcrowded with a constant influx of new dogs taken off the streets, we saw her joy start to fade.. She was being moved from kennel to kennel to accommodate the influx of new dogs, and her cheerful, playful character was getting her into trouble. In the chaotic, stressful environment, where some dogs feel the need to defend themselves, she was getting snapped at and growled at. It started to feel like her being there was a disaster waiting to happen.. Not wanting such a cheerful dog to lose her chance at a happy life, we decided to take her out before one of the other dogs attacked her.

Lani settled in well in the Melez enclosure, and she started to regain her joy for life.

Lani is a calm, sweet, enthusiastic little dog. She is such a sweetheart! She has a special gift: she is calm and enthusiastic at the same time. Is that possible? Yes, it is!

She loves to cuddle so much that she doesn't care whether she knows you or not. She gratefully accepts all cuddles. A real friend to everyone!

Lani isn't really afraid of anything, but she can be a little cautious at times.

Besides cuddling, she loves going out.

A little one-on-one time gives her energy. When she sees that she can come along, she really gets excited. You can see her thinking, ‘Yes, I get to go out!’

She walks well on a leash, but at the moment she is so enthusiastic when she is allowed out of the kennel that she runs around you in circles until the leash gets tangled. Ever seen a dog that seems to dance with joy? We have!

It's always a sad moment when we get back to the kennel. Then she knows that the one-on-one attention is over and she has to wait for the next time... Maybe she can come with you?

We expect her to calm down once she finds a home where she gets one-on-one attention. And that the wild dancing will give way to a slower pace.

Lani is not a dog of extremes, which makes her easy to get along with, both for humans and other animals. She is not very strong or dominant, but she is certainly not weak around other dogs, let alone submissive.

One moment she is happily playing with other dogs, the next she is curling up in a quiet corner and shutting herself off from the play to relax for a while. She fits in everywhere, which makes her easy-going.

She likes new, busy places, but finds them a little exciting. For example, she will enter a (new) shop without encouragement, but she will not go exploring to find the dog food. She prefers to stay close to the human.

We expect her to adapt well to new, busy environments.

We are looking for a place for Lani where she will have plenty of time and space to settle in. A place where she can start a new life with you. A life with lots of cuddles, love, understanding and the occasional dance of enthusiasm.

Are you looking for a sweet dog who is calm and enthusiastic? Look no further, you've found her!

Lani is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/the UK

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
