❄ What makes Jules unique? Jules is the most social dog in the Melez enclosure, and he's nice to everyone!
Jules came into our care in the summer of 2025.
We were recently notified that a hunting dog had been abandoned at the local government shelter and had become unwell. Turkish government shelters are never thoroughly cleaned and have no quarantine or disinfection protocol, making them a hotbed for viruses. Most dogs don't come out alive. But poor Jules' owner didn't care about any of this when he abandoned him to his fate just to get rid of him.
As a gentle dog, Jules didn't last long in the shelter before catching Distemper. All of a sudden, he was having to fight for his life.
Turkish government shelters do not perform treatments for sick dogs and Jules had no hope of survival...
Thankfully, with the right treatment, he made a full recover in the Melez enclosure and he is now a happy, healthy dog!
Jules is a happy, playful, and social dog. He's one of the most social dogs in the enclosure. He loves other dogs. Big or small, male or female, old or young, it doesn't matter to Jules, as long as they want to play. He loves them all!
We also see his social character shine when it comes to sharing. He's very good at it: he happily shares both food and toys with other dogs.
He spends most of the day playing with his friends at the shelter. He's always friendly to other dogs. Afterwards, he enjoys a well-deserved nap. And when his battery is recharged, then it's time to play again!
Jules is a young dog who is very energetic. He loves to run and play and would be a good fit for people with active lifestyles.
On a lead, he can pull enthusiastically.
He's so enthusiastic when he's being walked, that he can shoot out in all directions and it takes him a while to calmly follow the person walking him. His adopters will have to work on this through training.
In busier areas, Jules gets nervous and insecure. Around traffic and busy places, he tucks his tail tightly between his legs and is very anxious. He will need some guidance to build up his self-confidence.
In the enclosure, Jules doesn't show any hunting instincts. Birds and cats are safe because Jules isn't interested in them. Perhaps because he's too busy playing?
But when he is being walked, he finds everything that moves very interesting and wants to chase them. He does this with great enthusiasm, without growling or aggression.
Jules is also incredibly sociable with people. He likes everyone and greets them enthusiastically (okay, sometimes a little too enthusiastically).
Jules loves to hang on to you. And once he gets cuddles, he'll happily stick to you like sticky tape.
He can also jump up on you with great enthusiasm and doesn't want to let go. He also does this with strangers, which can lead to some awkward, but also hilarious, situations.
He still needs to learn to greet people more politely and calmly.
Jules is still a young dog, who hasn't seen much of the world and many things will be new to him when he moves to a new home.
His adopters will have to find a balance between helping him unleash his enthusiastic energy and creating peace and stability so he can adjust to everything without getting overwhelmed.
Jules is a real sweetheart. He is a sweet and gentle dog who still needs to learn to control his enthusiasm, but who will undoubtedly bring a lot of joy to his new home.
Jules is eagerly awaiting you and would love to come live with you so we can explore the world together!
Jules is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.
The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
