❄ What makes Jane unique: Jane has ectropion: drooping eyes, meaning her lower eyelid is often visible. This doesn’t bother her at all, but it does mean she’s more prone to eye infections and her eyes need to be kept clean. In the dusty shelter, this is tricky, but we reckon it will be much easier in a home.

We rescued Jane from the local government shelter in the spring of 2026. Jane is a middle-aged dog who has probably had a home before, but was abandoned when her family no longer wanted her. She was very distressed in the busy, chaotic government shelter, and you could tell she didn’t feel safe. She had probably been a loyal companion to her owners all her life, and now she was suddenly stuck in a busy, overcrowded kennel. We wanted her to have a better rest of her life, so we took her to the Melez shelter.

Jane is a sweet, easy-going and sociable dog. A true Golden Retriever through and through: wonderfully bubbly and enthusiastic, but with a stable temperament and an effortless charm about her.

She is incredibly well-behaved. In fact, you'll barely notice her at the shelter: she's always happily off doing her own thing. She loves playing with her friends, but she's just as content entertaining herself with, say, a twig she’s found lying around.

Jane always comes to greet people enthusiastically and might let out an excited bark or two. But after a good cuddle, she's happy to carry on with her day. She's not the type to cling to you constantly.

She’s friendly and calm around everyone, even people she has just met. She might bark with excitement, but she won't jump up on you, cling to you, or pull at you. She enjoys every moment, but stays level-headed about it.

Jane isn't the type to flow down in front of you with an unmistakable "pet me now" look. She loves a cuddle, but she's not asking for endless attention. She's happy to have you around, she just doesn't need to be entertained 24/7.

She displays similar behaviour towards other dogs: she enjoys their company, but doesn’t necessarily need constant interaction. That said, she does love a good play session and joins in on all the big group runarounds at the shelter. She knows exactly what she wants and isn't afraid to show it. She doesn’t like sharing her food with other dogs.

Jane walks beautifully and confidently on the leash. She strolls calmly alongside you, and traffic doesn't seem to faze her one bit. Road trip? She'll happily hop into the car all on her own. β€‹

Jane is a sweet, fun, easy-going and enthusiastic dog who truly deserves a home of her own. While she's wonderfully easy at the shelter, her adopters should know that arriving in a new environment will turn her whole world upside down for a while. She'll need time to settle in and figure out where she's landed.

If you give her that time and patience, you'll be rewarded with a loving sociable, and enthusiastic companion you can build a wonderful bond with. Jane is guaranteed to be a friend for life. β€‹

Jane is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU of the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
