❄What makes Elliot special: His grey muzzle, which makes him look like an old gentleman, even though his age is estimated at just 3-4 years old!

Elliot came to us in early 2026, rescued from a government shelter in northeast Turkey. There are no large animal welfare organisations in this region, just a handful of dedicated animal lovers doing whatever they can. Hunting is common in the area, and the shelters are full of abandoned hunting dogs. With no major active charities nearby, these dogs are left with almost no hope for a better life.

Poor Elliot had a really tough time at the shelter. His gentle nature meant he couldn't stand up for himself in the overcrowded shelter, and he often couldn't get to his food. He lost weight and became severely underweight. When local animal lovers saw him in such a heartbreaking state, they begged us for help and we couldn't say no. Thankfully, Elliot quickly transformed into a happy, healthy dog once he arrived at the Melez shelter!

Elliot is sweet, loyal, and gentle, but true to his hunting dog roots, he always wants to follow his nose outdoors.

Elliot is an incredibly social dog who gets along beautifully with people and other dogs alike. He fits right into the group at the shelter and has made plenty of friends. His gentle nature does mean the other male dogs sometimes pick on him, but he takes it all in stride, staying calm and friendly no matter what. New dogs get a warm, enthusiastic welcome from him, and he loves nothing more than running and playing with them.

He adores people just as much. He loves leaning against you for a cuddle, and he's just as friendly and easygoing with new people as he is with those he already knows. He's easygoing and always sweet-natured.

Elliot absolutely loves going for walks. The moment he thinks a walk might be coming, he plants himself by the gate and breaks into his signature happy dance, happily prancing on his paws. He can barely contain his excitement. Elliot regularly tries to convince us to take him out for an extra walk by dancing hopefully by the door. Good luck saying no to that!

Once he's outside, his hunting instincts kick in: nose to the ground, a few good sniffs, and then he's off following every scent he can find. It can be tricky to get his attention when he's fully in 'work mode'. If he spots a cat or other small animal, he strikes a beautiful, still Pointer stance, one paw raised in the air. If the animal stays still, he can hold that pose for a surprisingly long time, sometimes with an excited little bark. But if the animal runs, Elliot wants to chase! He can pull quite hard on the leash in these moments, getting so caught up in the excitement that he forgets you're on the other end. He won't hesitate to dive into bushes in hot pursuit of his prey! This often leads to some pretty hilarious moments. His adopter will need a bit of arm strength.

Elliot is an incredibly sweet, gentle dog who will shower his adopters with love. They'll need to keep in mind that he'll probably never be able to go off-leash outside of enclosed areas, since he'll always follow his nose. But aside from that, they'll be gaining a loving, easygoing and trustworthy companion for life!

Elliot is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.

A home visit, adoption contract and adoption fee apply.
