❄ What makes Disney special: her beautiful scruffy coat
Disney arrived in the Melez enclosure in the winter of 2023 after being rescued by a local animal lover.
Disney was living in the industrial estate on the outskirts of the city. She was looked after by business owners there, who cared enough about her to feed her, but didn't think to get her spayed and watched her have litter after litter of puppies, which they brought to the government shelter, unaware that this is an automatic death sentence for young dogs. This cycle continued until a local animal lover found out about Disney and asked me for help.
When Disney arrived in the enclosure, she was pregnant again, but after having had pregnancy after pregnancy, she had developed pyometra and her uterus was so severely infected that her newly developing babies were already dying. She had to have an emergency surgery to save her life. Her uterus, along with the dead babies, was removed and she was spayed. After this ordeal, she could finally leave her old life behind her and settle into life in the enclosure.
Disney is a very sweet and social girl. She has a cheerful character and is always happy. She is very easy-going and obediently lets herself be led when out for walks. She jumps into the car by herself and happily looks out the window whilst being driven around. She adapts well to new surroundings.
Although she is very social and enjoys interacting and playing with other dogs, the shelter is too crowded and chaotic for Disney and she can usually be found by herself in a quiet corner. She gets along with dogs of all sizes and ages and we think she would be very happy in a home with another social dog, or as an only dog with the opportunity to play with other dogs when out for walks. Disney's energy level is medium and in between playing with other dogs, she enjoys snoozing in her quiet corner.
Disney loves people and is always happy to greet anyone who comes into the shelter. She is very friendly towards strangers and likes both men and women. She loves getting pets and cuddles, but isn't very needy and doesn't need constant attention.
Disney is a wonderful, easy-going dog, who really deserves a happy life in a home. Could you be the one to give her the life she so deserves?
Disney is currently in Turkey and is available for adoption in the EU/the UK
The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
