❄ What makes Cosima unique: Cosima has a doppelgänger, her mother Venus!

Cosima and her mother Venus arrived at the shelter in early 2025. Venus and Cosima lived on the streets, trying to survive all on their own… We don’t know what happened to Cosima’s brothers and sisters, but most likely, as young street pups, they didn’t survive… Cosima managed to get through her puppyhood, but when the city they lived in was hit by a Distemper outbreak, both she and Venus became seriously ill. A local rescuer saved them and took them to the vet, where they fought for their lives for more than a month. Thankfully, both of them survived. But once they recovered, they had nowhere to go. Since their rescuer didn’t want to put them back on the streets, she asked us to take them in.

Are you looking for an enthusiastic, happy dog, who is playful, curious, adventurous, and full of energy? Then you might be looking for this sweetheart: Cosima.

This little female is very social and has many friends at the shelter, both small and large. She also gets along well with people, and even strangers are no problem for her. The only moments when she isn’t cheerful are when another dog comes too close to her food. That’s something she doesn’t appreciate.

Her enthusiasm shines through in everything: visitors are greeted with lots of energy, and she loves saying hello to people on the street as well. That enthusiasm currently also shows in her jumping up against people. Cosima walks well on the leash, but she’s so eager to greet everyone. In her mind, she has to show how excited she is to get attention. It’s almost as if she’s saying: “Look how fun I am?!”

She hasn’t quite learned to control her enthusiasm yet, and we haven’t found her “off-switch.” We think that once she has her own home and a daily structure, she will become a wonderful family dog.

The key is to teach her that she actually gets attention when she’s calm. We are looking for someone who is willing to coach Cosima in that. It’s also essential that she goes to someone who is active and enjoys adventure, because she really needs to burn off her energy.

Is she a little mischievous? Well, sometimes yes! Of course, it’s a super fun game to grab something she shouldn’t and then run off with it. Even more fun if someone chases her to get it back. What a joy! You can probably picture the scene already…

Cosima has spent almost her entire life in the shelter. That’s why it’s important to realize that, despite her enthusiasm, her new life will need to be built up very slowly. She needs a place where she can also rest – and you as her adopter will need to set those moments for her (especially in the beginning). Think of a nap in a crate or in a low-stimulus environment (or both). This can, of course, be phased out gradually. That way, her busy behavior will be interrupted, she can recharge, and she will discover that this actually makes her feel good.

Who is adventurous and ready for long walks? Who wants to go out often with this sweet, energetic dog? And who can at the same time offer her a calm and stable home base? Maybe you… In return, you’ll get an incredibly affectionate dog who is always happy to see you!

Cosima is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/United Kingdom.

Our dogs arrive microchipped, up to date on rabies and combination vaccines, spayed/neutered, dewormed, and flea-treated, and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania, and Anaplasma. Before traveling, they visit a vet for a final health check. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-rays are taken of any potential problem areas. Any concerns or potential health issues we’re aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
