❄ What makes Cindy special: Cindy has the cutest smile!

We rescued Cindy from the government shelter in early 2026. When we saw her in her overcrowded kennel, she was in utter shock. She was curled up in a corner, shivering with fear, and refused to move or lift her head, even when we came to the gate to reassure her. The shelter staff told us that she had been surrendered by her owner and was terrified by the chaotic shelter environment. We could not abandon her like her owners did, and took her with us to the Melez enclosure.

Cindy is a very sweet little dog who thrives in a quiet environment where she can be completely herself.

She is well settled in the enclosure and has calmed down a lot since being rescued from the government shelter. However she is clearly still uncomfortable with so many dogs and hustle and bustle around her. She likes to retreat into her dog house and rarely shows her cute face.

Poor Cindy will only show you her beautiful smile outside of her kennel. She really hates life in the enclosure. If you come into her kennel, she'll allow you to pet her when you can reach her, which she enjoys, but she won't put any effort into asking for it.

Surprisingly, outside the shelter we see a completely transformed dog: on walks, she is actually the happiest, easiest dog you could wish for!

She has the biggest smile when she's on her walk. She walks really well on the lead and she doesn't pull at all. She behaves perfectly then and seemingly enjoys life. It's very promising to see this side of her!

Her favourite activity is rolling in the grass! On walks, traffic doesn't bother her, nor do people. In fact, she likes meeting new people then. Life is great on walks!

As she's such an easy dog on walks, we believe her to be sensitive to the crowded shelter environment. The other dogs in the shelter are causing her a lot of stress; she really doesn't belong in a shelter. She longs for a home where she can find peace and quiet.

Although she doesn't feel at ease in the shelter with all the dogs around her, outside the shelter she doesn't find other dogs a problem at all. In fact: she gets along well with other dogs being walked, greets new dogs enthusiastically, and will invite other dogs to play.

This proves that she doesn't have any issues with being around other dogs. All she wants is a quiet life and to feel truly safe. Then she can take on the whole world!

She really likes people. She is the easiest dog at the vet, she allows anything. She enjoys meeting new people, and she also enjoys interacting with familiar people. From what we've seen of her so far, she doesn't care for cuddling much, but this might change once she feels safe and loved in her home.

Also good to know: Cindy has a motion disorder in one of her hind legs: she occasionally chooses not to use it. This usually happens when she's walking, only to suddenly hold it up in the air during the next few steps. Physical examination and X-rays revealed no cause, and therefore it was determined that she has a motion disorder: a temporary disruption in the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscle, causing her leg to briefly stop moving.

Fortunately, we have no reason to believe she is suffering. We've been advised that it isn't causing her pain and that there's no treatment. It's simply another reason why Cindy is unique!

Cindy needs a stable home where she can feel completely safe and truly unwind. Then she will be much happier in life and – we suspect – capable of anything. We think she could be suited well enough in a home in a city, provided she has enough opportunity to relax at home. Cindy loves the idea of a comfortable, soft bed in a quiet spot where she can rest.

Can you offer her that spot? Do you see as much potential in her as we do? Are you looking for an easy-going, social dog that behaves very well, doesn't pull on the lead, loves going on walks? Can you love her despite the quirk of her motion disorder? Then welcome Cindy into your life. She really can't wait to escape the chaotic shelter, and be given the chance to become someone's new family member!

Cindy is currently in Turkey and is available for adoption in the UK and the EU.

Our dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
