❄ What makes Chance special: Chance managed to survive an awful car crash, where he was heavily injured. He still has a pouch of loose skin under his chin as a result of the crash. This doesn't affect him in any way.
Chance came into our care in the spring of 2025.
This poor boy was hit by a car at full speed and was seriously injured. Luckily, an animal lover saw the incident happen and brought him straight to the vets. At first we thought he had got off lucky with no internal bleeding and only a minor break in his hip. But quickly, it became clear that something was very seriously wrong. He was in so much pain that he couldn't lie down, and spent 24 hours leaning against the wall.. He was drinking lots of water and then throwing everything up, and he wasn't urinating. His condition deteriorated so rapidly that the vet had to perform an emergency surgery to open him up and see what was wrong. It turned out that the impact of the hit by the car was so strong, that it had caused his bladder to be torn almost completely open. Although there was no sign of this injury externally, internally his bladder had been torn apart and the contents of his bladder was constantly leaking into his abdomen.
During a difficult emergency operation, the vet was able to sew the bladder back together.
The operation was successful, but considering how complicated and severe the situation was, Chance had to spend a few more days at the vets fighting for his life.
Luckily, he made a full recovery!
Chance is a wonderful dog who provides endless entertainment. He's truly a dog for people who like their dog being a little bit quirky! How so? Well, Chance is a very goofy dog!
Chance is one big bag of fun! He loves splashing around in the water, then rolling around in the mud. Or enthusiastically throwing toys in the air and chasing them himself. And then happily growling (out of enthusiasm) and barking at them. That's Chance's trademark play style!
Chance is very playful and can play with toys with great enthusiasm! We don't know where he learned it, but he knows how to play fetch and can happily and proudly come running with a toy to give it to you so you can throw it. Then he'll enthusiastically go after it, growling with joy, and bring it back to you. Would you like to throw again because it makes him so happy?
You can't resist that sweet face with his twinkling eyes, so this came can go on for a long time!
He also enjoys a good tug-of-war every now and then, but he always eventually lets go because he wants the toy to be thrown again. Chance has a lot of energy, and that's contagious to the people around him.
Chance really likes people and greets everyone enthusiastically. His enthusiastic, happy growl can be intimidating, and he can be a bit hyper. People who are a bit scared of dogs might find him scary. But he's not. His growl actually means he's having a great time!
If you know him, you can immediately see that his growl shows his enthusiasm. So, nothing to be afraid of.
He can be very demanding of attention and wants to be number one in the kennel. He pushes to the front of the queue to get cuddles!
In the past, when he was hit by a car on the street and suffered a broken hip and a ruptured bladder, he could sometimes act defensively, especially at the vet. We don't really see this side of him anymore at the shelter, but he might show it again if he gets too stressed.
So we do recommend that his adopter keep an eye on him so he doesn't get too overwhelmed.
Chance is socially awkward with dogs. He doesn't really know what to do with them. He can find some males exciting, and can act nervous around them. But he currently shares a kennel with another male without any problems.
He does seem to be interested in female dogs sometimes, and occasionally he tries to play with another dog, but he doesn't quite know how, and the other dogs think he's a bit of an oddball with his playful growls and strange movements.
We think Chance would be best off as the only dog in the house, or living with a very sociable, stable other dog.
Chance walks well on a lead and is very enthusiastic on walks. He often gets the zoomies and loves running. You wouldn't be able to tell he's had a hip fracture!
Chance is a special dog who deserves adopters who appreciate that and enjoy having a dog who is a little different. Lots of fun and companionship guaranteed!
So, do you have a nice warm bed for this sweet, goofy, affectionate (and growling enthusiastically), playful friend? Can this little champ burn off some energy with you? And can you give him the peace and stability he needs?
Then you'll make a great team. If you welcome Chance into your life, you can be sure it will always be fun and certainly never boring.
Chance is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU or the UK.
The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
