β What makes Celine special: the white tip of her tail, as if she has dipped her tail in a pot of white paint!
β
We rescued Celine at the end of 2025 from a government shelter, where she had likely been abandoned. When we first found her, she was curled in a corner, trying to vanish into the walls to escape the surrounding chaos. She didn’t even react when we approached; it was as if she had simply given up on the world. Poor Celine was skin and bones and looked incredibly fragile. We knew instantly she wouldn’t survive much longer in that environment, and we couldn't leave her behind.
Since moving to the Melez shelter, she has slowly begun to feel safe, and we are finally seeing her cheerful spirit emerge.
β
Celine is a sweet, gentle, and sensitive soul. Because she had to survive the "big, bad world" on her own, she developed a "tough girl" persona as a defence mechanism. When she feels stressed or insecure, she puts up a front to protect herself. However, in quiet moments, her true colours shine. When Celine feels at ease, she is cautious but deeply affectionate. If she knows she’s about to get some attention, her curly tail starts wagging enthusiastically, and she’ll gently place a paw on your lap, wanting nothing more than to nuzzle her nose against your face.
β
Unfortunately, these moments of peace are rare in a busy shelter. The constant noise is hard on her, and she easily becomes overstimulated and trapped in a cycle of stress. The commotion prevents her from resting, which keeps her on high alert and leads her to bark at other dogs—a habit that makes it even harder for her to find calm.
During the quiet hours, she is a different dog, playing happily with her kennel mates. But the moment there’s a disturbance elsewhere, she’s back on "lookout duty" in a split second.
β
Interestingly, Celine is much more relaxed with other dogs once she’s outside the shelter walls. She loves going on adventures and walks beautifully on a lead—chest out, nose in the wind. While she handles busy environments well, fast-moving traffic still unnerves her, and she’ll sometimes bark at cars that zoom by too quickly.
When meeting new people, Celine is a bit conflicted. She clearly wants to be brave and will approach happily for a greeting, but if someone reaches out too quickly to pet her, she immediately flattens herself against the ground in fear. It’s a heartbreaking sign that she may have been mistreated in the past, and her future family will need to be dedicated to earning her trust at her own pace.
β
Celine is a diva-in-training who was truly born to be a pampered princess. She has never known a life of comfort and luxury, but it is a role she would step into perfectly. She needs a home with patient, understanding adopters who can offer her a sanctuary where she can finally decompress. We are looking for a family who will help her realise she is safe and doesn't need to be on guard anymore, allowing her to relax and finally be her sweet, loving, and true self every single day.

Celine is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU or the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
