❄ What makes Button special: her brown nose poking out from her scruffy locks!
Button came into our care in the summer of 2023. She was found in front of a wedding venue on the outskirts of the city, by the side of a busy road. The venue owners were shocked to find scruffy little Button on their doorstep, and suspect her previous owner dumped her there and then drove off. Realising there was no way she would be able to survive on the streets, they asked us for help.
We have no idea what Button's life was like before she was abandoned, but she is extremely timid, and is especially scared of new people. Although she has started learning to trust humans since she has been with us, she is still easily startled by sudden movements and is very wary of new people.
When a stranger comes in to her kennel, she will try to hide and may bark. Her curiosity quickly gets the better of her however, and if the visitor stays calm and ignores her, she will cautiously come up for a sniff. It doesn't take long for her to allow the new person to pet her. Once she gets to know you, Button is a sweet, affectionate dog who always excitedly rushes up to greet us with a wagging tail. She loves getting chest scratches and attention.
We expect that Button will be able to build strong relationships of trust with the members of her own family, but that she will always be wary of new people, and that having strangers come into her house will always be stressful for her.
Movements around Button's head appear to be extra scary for her, and she gets very nervous whenever we put a collar and a lead on her. Making Button feel comfortable when handled around her head, and whilst getting a collar or harness put on and taken off, is something her family will have to invest time and patience into.
Once out of her kennel, Button walks pretty confidently on the lead and she seems to enjoy going for walks in calm areas. However, crowded areas with lots of people and noise are stressful for her.
Button is a playful dog who gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves spending her days playing with her kennel mates. Having another dog in the home would be extremely beneficial for Button, and should help her build up her self-confidence.
For Button, we are looking for a calm, quiet home with patient, experienced adopters who don't mind investing lots of time into patiently and lovingly guiding Button as she settles in. In the right home, we believe she will be able to become a lot more confident, but this will take time and require lots of help and patience from her family.
By adopting Button and helping her to feel safe, you will be truly transforming her life!
Button is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.
The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
