❄ What makes Anise special: Anise has the sweetest smile!​

We rescued Anise from the local government shelter earlier this year. When we spotted her, she had just arrived and had been put in one of the most crowded kennels. She was sitting in a corner, trying to stay as still as possible in the chaos around her, and gave us the most desperate, terrified look. We knew we had to get her out! After the stress of her stay in the government shelter, Anise was so grateful to be safe in the Melez enclosure.

Anise has changed enormously during her time at the shelter: from a young, somewhat restless and nervous little dog, into a wonderfully sweet, cheerful and sociable dog who fits in easily wherever she goes.

Anise gets on brilliantly with other dogs. At the shelter, she lives in our largest enclosure alongside a big group of dogs, and she's slotted right into the pack without any trouble. She's easy-going with everyone: sometimes she'll join in and play with the other dogs, and other times she's just as happy doing her own thing. In short, she's a dog nobody has any trouble with.

When she first arrived at the shelter, meeting new dogs made her a little nervous, and she'd occasionally act somewhat defensively. That's all in the past now though; these days, she's friendly with every single dog she meets.

That said, it's possible her nervous, slightly defensive side could briefly resurface once she moves to her new home after adoption; the stress of such a big change might make meeting new dogs feel a bit more daunting for her again for a while. But Anise has already proven just how adaptable she can be, and that given enough time and space, she settles into new situations really well, even life in our busy Melez shelter!

People, meanwhile, Anise simply adores, in every situation, at every moment. She's always thrilled to see people and wants to be friends with absolutely everyone. Fear just isn't really part of her vocabulary: a familiar face or a total stranger, it makes no difference to her. Everyone gets the same happy, tail-wagging welcome, and she trusts people completely and instantly. She's endlessly sweet, and simply lights up at the chance for a cuddle.

Taking Anise out and about is an absolute joy, and easy too: she's cheerful, enthusiastic, walks nicely on the lead, and is clearly over the moon every time she gets to tag along. Car rides don't faze her either; she'll happily sit and wait to see where she's headed next, always up for the adventure.

Outside the shelter, Anise isn't fearful at all, and traffic or busy places don't startle her one bit. She loves joining you for a coffee on a terrace, and is just as happy to check out the inside of a café. She'll usually have an excited little sniff around first, then settle down calmly once she's had a good look.

​

Anise really is a wonderful dog, and one of the easiest at the shelter. She'd make a great choice for first-time dog owners too. That said, her adopters should keep in mind that once she moves to her new home, her whole world will be turned upside down again. It's possible the stress of the move brings out a bit more of her old, nervous, restless side for a while.

​

With a calm, patient approach from her adopters, she'll be able to settle in nicely and find her sense of calm again. If you focus on a gentle start that helps her build trust in you, you'll have exactly what it takes to build a wonderful life together with Anise. What you'll find waiting on the other side is a truly lovely, easygoing dog.

Anise is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.

​Our dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
