❄ What makes Theia special: Theia was completely blind when she came to us. Thankfully, she managed to regain her eyesight, but she still has a chronic eye infection which she is still being treated for.

Meet Theia, the sweetest, most affectionate dog in the Melez shelter!

Theia has been in our care since the Summer of 2023. Unfortunately we don't know anything about Theia's past, but we know she has had to deal with a lot of hardship.

Theia came to me from the government shelter. We don't know if she was surrendered there by a previous owner, or if she was caught on the streets and was brought to the shelter for the government's TNR (trap-neuter-release) campaign, but she ended up in a crowded kennel surrounded by larger dogs, with no supervised feeding and no individual kennels to retreat in to. Life in a Turkish government shelter is tough enough for any dog, and many don't make it out alive, but it must have been extra hard for little Theia because she is blind.

Miraculously, she survived her stay in the shelter, and when it was time for her to be released back onto the streets they asked us if she could come to us instead. Of course we couldn't say no to her!

Theia is a happy little dog with a big lust for life! People are her absolute favourite thing in the world and she doesn't let any opportunity to get attention pass her by. Whether it is people she knows or strangers, she charms everyone by rolling straight over and showing them her belly to ask for cuddles! Theia is extremely cuddly and loves getting lots of attention and affection. She would love a home where she can have lots of interaction with people.

Theia is less fond of other dogs and cats. She is generally neutral towards other dogs, and briefly greets them and then ignores them. She doesn't like cats and barks at them.

Theia loves going on adventures and really enjoys being taken out for walks. She walks perfectly on the lead and also enjoys being in the car. As long as she gets to go out and has her people by her side, Theia is happy!

When she first arrived in the Melez shelter, Theia was completely blind, a result of damage to her eyes. Although she has regained her eyesight, she still struggles with chronic eye infections, which she is currently being treated for. We hope to find a solution to her eye problems, but she may need more care and observation after being adopted.

What Theia wants most in life is to have a home and a family of her own. You won't find a more loyal and grateful dog than this little girl, and she is sure to bring lots of joy to her new home!

Theia is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.

Our dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
