❄ What makes Milas special: his long nose, which gives him a cartoon-like face!

Milas came into our care in the summer of 2023. He was found in the middle of the road all by himself as a puppy of only three months old, with no-one around to help him or look after him.. He was just a baby, and had no way of fending for himself on the streets.. He got very lucky and was found by true animal lovers, who realised there was no way he would be able to survive and drove over an hour just to bring him to our shelter.

Milas is a sweet boy with a sensitive nature. He is super cuddly, and most of the time, all he wants to do is cuddle and be held! Milas has grown up in the enclosure, and although he is now much bigger than the tiny lump of fur he was when he first arrived, he is still a puppy at heart.

When he feels safe, humans are Milas' favourite thing in the world. He is always happy and excited to see us in the morning, loves a good cuddle, and can even be quite a nuisance when you are trying to clean his kennel, because he is always trying to get your attention and distract you! He doesn't believe in personal space, and will put his paws on your face and bury his nose in your neck. He loves giving kisses and will lovingly try to lick your face. He also really relies on the people he trusts for reassurance and guidance. When he feels nervous and unsure, he leans against you to feel safe, and doesn't want to lose his physical connection with you. He can be clingy when he is anxious, and really wants you to show him that everything is ok.

When we have visitors in the enclosure, Milas is very happy to greet them and wants lots of cuddles and attention straight away. However, when he is outside of his comfort zone, he can be wary of strangers. He is also easily startled when he thinks someone might be a threat, for example if he sees someone making lots of loud noises or moving in an intimidating way. When he gets very scared, he may bark.

Milas has grown up in the enclosure surrounded by other dogs, and he is very used to sharing his living space with other dogs. He has some firm friends in the enclosure that he loves playing with. He gets along great with female dogs, but is nervous around male dogs and can act defensively when meeting a new male dog who intimidates him.

Because he has grown up in the enclosure, Milas has seen very little of the outside world and although he is always keen to go out of his kennel and go for a walk, once he is in new surroundings, he gets very nervous. He walks well on a lead, but is very insecure when he is out. He tries to stay glued to you as much as possible, may squeak and cry out of stress, and when he gets very scared he will try to jump into your arms, as if to say: "save me!".
Milas will require slow, patient guidance from his adopter to help him build up self-confidence when out for walks. It is very important that his adopter doesn't try to go too fast with him and overwhelm him, as this will just make him more insecure.

Milas is the enclosure monkey - he loves climbing, and can almost always be found on top of a dog house, or in a tree! His favourite spot is perched on top one of the dog houses, with his head sticking out over the fence of his kennel, where he keeps track of everything that is going on both inside and outside the enclosure. He has a playful, cheeky side and loves to play with toys and other dogs.

What Milas would love more than anything, is to have a forever home where he can feel truly safe and loved. Could you offer him the safety and security he so craves?

Milas is currently in Turkey, and is ready to travel to the EU/the UK

Our dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
