❄ What makes Blaze special: Her beautiful grey brindle fur and her white socks!
Introducing Blaze, a stunning rescue dog with a magnificent, wolf-like coat that will surely turn heads. But Blaze is not just a sight to behold, but also a gentle soul in need of a loving home.
Blaze came into our care in the Spring of 2023. She and her friend Cotton were happily living in the grounds of some local student dormitories, when new management decided they wanted to grounds to be dog-free, and kicked them out.
After the huge earthquakes that hit Turkey in February 2023, the Turkish government ordered all universities to switch to online classes and opened student dormitories around Turkey to families who had lost their homes in the earthquakes. All Winter, the student dormitories in our city were used to house families from Adiyaman who lost everything. The grounds were filled with children, who loved having dogs and cats to play with. Cotton and Blaze were looked after by the children from the earthquake area and had a happy, comfortable life. However, when the earthquake victims were relocated to different housing, the dormitories were opened for students again and a new team started managing the grounds. When the families moved, the dogs got left behind. The new management is very hostile towards dogs dogs, and immediately started making arrangements for the dogs to be removed and taken to the local shelter (an almost certain death sentence for young dogs). An animal lover intervened and asked me for help.
Blaze grew up in the Melez shelter and grew into a stunning dog. She has a happy, playful character and is very cuddly. She is one of the first to come up to us and greet us every morning!
As Blaze has seen little of the world outside of the shelter, she is a bit timid and is easily spooked. She walks well on the lead most of the time, and likes going for walks, but she will often freeze when she sees or hears something that scares her. Gentle encouragement is often all it takes to get her walking again.
Blaze gets along very well with other dogs and would benefit from having another stable and social dog in her home to help her gain some self confidence. She doesn't like sharing her food with other dogs, but doesn't mind people touching her food.
Blaze is friendly with strangers, but is scared of men. She freezes when she sees men when out for a walk, and it takes her a while to trust men. Once a man has gained her trust, she is very affectionate and she will happily greets the men she knows, but gaining this trust requires time and patience.
Adopting Blaze means not only welcoming a gorgeous and unique furry friend into your life, but also being a source of support and encouragement as she blossoms into the confident and loving companion she has the potential to become. Give Blaze the chance to thrive in a loving home, and you'll be rewarded with a loyal and playful friend for life.
Blaze is currently in Turkey and is available for adoption in the UK and the EU.
