❄ What makes Astra special: With his grey eye-patch, Astra is one good looking pup!

Astra and his sisters flew all the way from Van, in the East of Turkey, to join our pack, so they could finally be safe, and have a chance at finding their forever homes. They were found in Van along with their siblings by the side of the road, lying next to their dead mother. Their mother had been shot dead with a shotgun by local residents who claimed that street dogs are dangerous and that they wanted all dogs gone from the streets.. Her puppies were just babies, and they had to watch their mother be murdered. They were left orphans, with no hope of surviving without their mother. Luckily they were found by volunteers from Van Hayvan Sesi Dernegi, who took them to safety. For months, Van Hayvan Sesi tried to find a home for the puppies, but no-one wanted them. Desperate to give them a good life, they asked me to take in a few of the poor pups. Sadie, Moon and Astra were picked as the lucky ones and travelled across the whole of Turkey to move in to our enclosure!

Despite everything he has been through, Astra absolutely adores people! He is very cuddly and loves to jump onto your lap. He is very friendly towards strangers and excitedly greets visitors.

 

Astra is a quiet, gentle dog who is very calm for his age. He does like playing, but also loves quietly watching the other dogs. He gets along well with social dogs, but can be nervous around other males and new dogs, so needs some guidance from his adopters to help him feel comfortable and confident when encountering other dogs. He is best friends with the other dogs in his kennel, and often sleeps snuggled up with them.

 

Astra walks on the lead and is generally interested in exploring new places, but can get spooked by unexpected noises such as a car driving past. He needs a patient, stable home where he can get lots of time to settle and learn to be confident and happy.

Astra is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.

The dogs arrive in the Netherlands microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
