❄ What makes Zelda unique: Zelda survived distemper. As a result, she has very slight tics (muscle contractions) in her chin. This does not bother her and does not require treatment. These tics will likely diminish even more over the years.

Zelda came to us in the summer of 2025 from a government shelter in northern Turkey – a conservative area where dogs have little chance of receiving the care they need. We think Zelda used to have a home and was used as a hunting dog. We do not know what happened to her or why her owner decided to abandon her. Zelda was used to being part of a family, and in the government shelter she craved human attention and would wag her tail desperately with excitement when someone came near her kennel. When we saw how much love she had to give, we knew we couldn't leave her behind!

Zelda is a sweet, cheerful, social dog. She is easy-going and has a fun, stable character.

At the shelter, Zelda is fairly calm. She is one of the smallest dogs in the large pack she lives with and fits in well with the group. But she also knows, very cleverly, to keep her distance when the other dogs get a little rough while playing.

She is very playful and very social herself. She gets along with every dog she meets and has many friends at the shelter, where she loves to run and play with them. She also greets new dogs cheerfully; she likes them all!

She is also very friendly towards people. She greets everyone cheerfully and enthusiastically and loves to be cuddled, but she does not demand attention non-stop. She is not afraid of new people and likes everyone.

She is very submissive towards people and quickly shows her belly. She gets along well with children.

Outside the shelter, she can be very excited at first and have difficulty settling down. She is so happy to be allowed to run around and wants to sniff and explore everything. She is like a child in a playground: not knowing where to start and running from left to right.

She is mainly preoccupied with her surroundings, and it can take a while before her attention returns to people.

Once she has used up her initial energy, she becomes (just like the child in the playground) a little calmer and more focused on you. Then she is back with you and is very easy-going and obedient. However, she is very alert to cats. She is not interested in them.

Zelda is a very sweet dog and has lots of love to give!

So, are you looking for a dog that is playful, sweet, sociable and not too big? If you have another dog or children, that's no problem. Do you have a cat-free home and lots of love and attention to give?

And do you want a smart dog who still needs to learn to pay attention to her surroundings when out walking? Then please prepare a basket for Zelda. She will be incredibly happy to live with you and you will have a wonderful time together!

Zelda is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/United Kingdom.

Our dogs arrive microchipped, up to date on rabies and combination vaccines, spayed/neutered, dewormed, and flea-treated, and tested for heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania, and Anaplasma.

Before travelling, they see a vet for a final health check. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-rays are taken of any potential problem areas. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated to you beforehand.
