❄ What makes Wendy unique: Her furry ears!

This is Wendy. She is the gentlest and most sensitive dog you will ever meet! She is incredibly endearing and seems almost too innocent and naive for this big, busy world.

We rescued Wendy from the government shelter in the spring of 2025. We don't know much about her past, but we suspect she had a home and was dumped at the shelter by her owners. She was terrified when we found her at the shelter. Every time someone walked past her kennel, she would immediately run to the fence and squeak and cry as loud as she could, begging to be rescued. We knew we couldn't leave her behind...

Wendy is now well settled in the Melez shelter. She is still a nervous dog, but she is so happy now!

Sometimes we compare Wendy to a cute little mouse: she can be very quiet for a while, but then suddenly move at lightning speed. Wendy is a bit timid and can be quiet, but she can also be very enthusiastic, with lightning-fast movements as she darts back and forth excitedly!

Wendy is a loving, affectionate little soul who craves closeness and reassurance. She adores being petted but prefers to keep all four paws on the ground, she’s not a fan of being picked up. As long as she can stand beside you, she’ll be your most loyal companion.

AWhen Wendy first arrived at the government shelter, she was extremely stressed: barking and crying out of fear and confusion. Since coming into our care, she has blossomed. She no longer cries and only barks now when she’s excited or wants attention. With each passing day, her confidence grows.

Stress reduction has already done wonders for her, and now she’s looking for a calm, patient adopter who can continue to help her feel safe and secure in a peaceful home. Wendy’s environment has a big impact on her behaviour, so a stable, quiet household will help her truly thrive.

Wendy gets along very well with other dogs, though she’s very submissive and would do best with gentle canine companions rather than dominant ones. At the shelter, she has to be fed separately because she cannot stand up for herself in busy situations.

Out on walks, Wendy does great on the lead and loves focusing on her person. She isn’t afraid of traffic, but she still looks to you for safety and reassurance, she really wants to know she can count on you..

Wendy is a sweetheart who deserves a calm, loving, and patient home where she can continue to grow in confidence.

In short: If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate dog who will reward your patience with unconditional love, Wendy could be the one for you. She needs someone calm, kind, and understanding: someone who will give her the safety and trust she’s been longing for.

Wendy is waiting for her forever home. Could that be with you?

Wendy is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/United Kingdom.

Our dogs arrive microchipped, up to date on rabies and combination vaccines, spayed/neutered, dewormed, and flea-treated, and tested for heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania, and Anaplasma.

Before travelling, they see a vet for a final health check. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-rays are taken of any potential problem areas. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated to you beforehand.
