❄ What makes Stella special: her scruffy coat and her white moustache!

Stella came into our care in the spring of 2024.
 

Beautiful Stella was found in the mountains outside a local tourist town, in an isolated area where there is very little access to food and water. She was spotted by an animal lover, who realised that there was no way Stella would be able to survive there and took her to a safer area. They took her to be spayed and it turned out she was pregnant, but luckily the pregnancy wasn't advanced and they were able to terminate. It is possible that she was kept as a hunting dog and abandoned in the woods when she got pregnant and her owners didn't want to have to deal with her babies.

Once Stella had recovered from her surgery, her rescuer returned her to the streets and tried to keep her safe, but it was clear that Stella wasn't used to life as a stray and she struggled to stay safe. Wanting a better life for her, her rescuer asked us to take her in.

Stella is a lovely dog who is buckets of fun! She has a cheerful personality and is always up for an adventure!

Stella loves people and seeks lots of human attention and affection. She is very loyal towards her people and is very friendly and excited when meeting new people. She is very easy-going and happily lets strangers handle her and take her out for walks.

Stella is a social dog who gets along well with other dogs, but she is energetic and playful and some dogs find her intimidating. She barks a lot when she plays, which can scare timid dogs. Her closest friends in the enclosure are the younger, playful dogs, with whom she spends hours chasing each other around the enclosure and jumping in the pools.

As a hunting dog, Stella does not get along with cats. She exhibits signs of having a prey drive and likes to chase birds. Her adopters will need to be careful when walking her to make sure that she doesn't shoot off after birds or other animals.

Stella is very confident outside of the shelter, and she loves going for walks. She walks well on the lead and loves exploring new areas. She would love to be able to have an active lifestyle with lots of long walks and plenty of opportunity to run and play.

Stella is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU/UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
