❄ What makes Huxley special: his trademark loving stare, looking straight into your eyes with his big beady eyes, begging for more cuddles!

We rescued Huxley from the government shelter in the summer of 2024, after Turkey's 'Massacre Law' came into effect. Poor Huxley is likely to have had an owner before, but whatever his life was like before, he lost it all when his owner abandoned him... Not used to having to fend for himself, Huxley was attacked and became unwell. He had a serious bacterial infection when we found him. He was weak and ill and he was starving... His fur was dirty and matted and he had bite marks on his neck and his throat.. Thankfully it only took a few days of some proper care, antibiotics and vitamins to turn him back into a happy boy!

Huxley loves people and craves lots of interaction and affection. He is very gentle and polite in the way he asks for attention. Whilst the other dogs in his kennel excitedly run around and jump on you, Huxley quietly but happily approaches you, sits down in front of you, and looks up at you with his big shiny eyes to ask for attention. If this doesn't work, he will give you a gentle nose poke to try to get the attention he wants so badly. He can sit beside you for ages, not moving, happily enjoying his head scratches..

Huxley gets along well with other dogs and is great friends with the other dogs in his kennel. He gets along with both male and female dogs and especially likes small dogs. He has one or two favourite friends who he spends the whole day playing with. Huxley does not like to share his food and needs to be fed separately or he will try to steal the other dogs' food and defend his own.
Huxley is gentle and friendly towards cats, but doesn't like them approaching his food.

 

Outside of the enclosure, Huxley is confident and energetic and he loves going for walks! He enjoys exploring new areas and isn't easily startled by noises or traffic. He may pull on the lead in his excitement to explore. He would love to be able to go on frequent long walks with his adopter.

 

Huxley likes to be on the look-out and watch what is going on outside of the enclosure from his kennel. He is alert to anything that happens outside the enclosure, and barks when he sees people or other dogs passing by. It is possible that he may be watchful and try to protect his territory once he has a home.

Huxley is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the EU of the UK.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
