❄ What makes Curly special: His gorgeous curly locks!

Curly came into our care in the winter of 2023.

Curly used to live outdoors in a farm, where he was kept as a guard dog. Unfortunately he started chasing the chickens, so the farmer wanted to get rid of him. His owner couldn't even be bothered to get rid of Curly himself, and called the local council to pick him up and bring him to the government shelter. Knowing how dangerous government shelters in Turkey are, an animal lover intervened and asked us to take Curly instead.

Curly has probably never experienced proper care or love in his life, and a result of this is he is very insecure. Although he wants to trust so badly, he is very wary of new people and wouldn't let us near him at first. But after a few weeks, he slowly but surely started letting his guard down and started to become very affectionate!

When he feels comfortable, Curly is a happy, playful dog who excitedly comes to ask for cuddles and wants lots of attention. There is a sweet, affectionate dog hiding under his scared outer layer. Once he learns to trust you, Curly is very loyal and will follow you everywhere. But earning this trust takes time and patience.

Curly walks well on the lead and easily lets himself be guided when he is being walked by someone he trusts. If a stranger tries to take him for a walk, he freezes and refuses to leave his kennel. When outside of the enclosure, he enjoys exploring, but is easily startled by sudden sounds or new people.

Curly gets along well with other dogs, but is much more focused on people. He wants the people he trusts around as much as possible to help him feel safe. He looks towards his people for reassurance and guidance.

In a quiet, stable home, with experienced adopters who can show him the love and patience he needs, Curly can blossom into the happiest, most loyal dog there is. Curly will require lots of stability and lots of patience and understanding from his adopters as he settles in and starts to form bonds of trust. In the right hands, we know his cheerful, sweet character will come out and he will be the most grateful dog in the world!

Curly is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.

The dogs arrive in the Netherlands microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
