❄ What makes Bessie special: her beautiful black, brown and white markings

Bessie came into our care as a young puppy in late 2023. She had been living on the grounds of the local university campus, but was being attacked by larger dogs. Some animal loving students took pity on her, and knowing that she wasn't safe there, they brought her to us. Unfortunately she turned out to have Parvo, and suddenly she was having to fight for her life. Parvo is very deadly for young dogs, especially for puppies who have been living on the streets and don't have a strong immune system, but Bessie managed to pull through and made a full recovery.

Bessie is a super sweet, soft-natured young dog. She is gentle and friendly and in the chaos of the crowded shelter, she is one of the more quiet dogs.

Bessie loves people and is always happy to get some cuddles and attention. When we enter the kennels, she will hang back and wait for the more energetic dogs to greet us first, then when she finds a quiet moment, she will happily come up to say hello. Bessie is very friendly towards strangers and is so happy when we have visitors! She has met children before and was gentle with them and showed interest in interacting with them.

Having grown up in the Melez enclosure, Bessie is used to living with dogs. She is a social dog who gets along with other dogs, but she does struggle in the crowded environment and longs for a calmer home. She does not like sharing her food with other dogs.
Bessie does not like cats and may have a prey drive.

Outside of the enclosure, Bessie walks well on the lead and enjoys going out for walks, but as much of the outside world is new to her, she is easily startled by loud traffic or unexpected sounds and movements. She will need patience and guidance from her adopters to build up her self-confidence.

As a young dog, Bessie is very playful and she loves playing with toys. Her adopters should be ready for the normal potential adolescent naughtiness that can come with this age.

This sweet girl so deserves a loving home! Could you give her the happy life she so deserves?

Bessie is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK/the EU.

The dogs arrive in their homes microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
