❄ What makes Axel special: his big pointy ears!
Axel came into our care in early 2024.
Little Axel was found on the streets in a terrible state.. He had been attacked by other dogs and had an inured leg and big bite wounds in his neck.. Poor Axel is lucky to be alive, if he hadn't been found by animal lovers, who knows what would have happened to him.. Luckily he was spotted by people who cared and called us straight away to ask me for help.
Axel was absolutely terrified when he first arrived, but with a little love and patience, he soon realised that he is finally safe!
Axel is a sweet boy with a cheerful personality. His lust for life and enthusiasm sometimes lead him to get himself into situations that make him nervous. Axel would thrive in a calm, stable home with experienced adopters who can make sure he feels safe and loved. With time, a stable routine, and lots of love and support, we know Axel can blossom into a happy dog who can be his cheerful self all the time, and doesn't have to be nervous anymore.
On first glance, you wouldn't think that Axel is a nervous dog. He is happy, energetic and playful and enthusiastically greets everyone he meets. He walks well on the lead and loves to go out and explore. When visitors enter his kennel, he is the first dog to run up to them with his tail wagging. He loves getting cuddles and will follow people around the kennel to ask for more attention. He will stare lovingly at you with his beady black eyes hoping for one more cuddle. However, if something startles him, he can suddenly become very stressed. He expresses this by growling and trying to bite his own back leg out of frustration. Although this behaviour doesn't harm anyone, including himself, we would love for him to be able to have a stress-free life, where he can feel completely safe, and doesn't feel the need to do this.
Axel is friendly when meeting other dogs and enjoys playing with the other small dogs in his kennel. He finds large dogs a bit intimidating and may bark at them. This will probably get better once he builds up more self confidence. Axel doesn't like cats. His favourite hobby is hunting for mice, and he may have a prey drive.
This adorable boy has so much joy, charm and love in him. He just needs a stable home with loving, patient adopters, to help him feel safe enough to get over his nervousness.
Could you offer Axel the safe home he so needs?
Axel is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.
The dogs arrive in the Netherlands microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
