❄ What makes Aspen special: Aspen loves to play with the water bowls!
Aspen came into our care in the summer of 2024. She was one of our first government shelter rescues after the 'Massacre Law' came into effect. Poor Aspen was abandoned by her family with her collar still on.. We don't know anything about the life she had before and how her previous family treated her , all we know is she was unwanted and they couldn't even bother taking her collar off when they dumped her. Stuck in an overcrowded shelter, she grew weaker and weaker. She caught mange and her fur started to fall out. Her skin was dry and cracked and she had small little wounds all over her body. Unable to find enough food, she lost weight and she became completely malnourished.. Thankfully, she made a quick recovery once she was in our care and was properly looked after.
Aspen is a sweet, quiet girl who has the most cheerful, playful character around people she trusts, but she is shy around new people. She is very loyal to the people she loves, and it is heartbreaking that her previous family broke that trust and abandoned her...
Although she is hesitant around new people, this quiet girl never makes a fuss. She doesn't bark at strangers, or try to run away, she just quietly watches them from a distance. It doesn't take long for her curiosity to get the better of her and she will hesitantly come up for a sniff, and pretty soon she is happy to let that person pet her. If someone she doesn't trust yet takes her out for a walk, she doesn't refuse, but quietly and cautiously lets herself be handled and follows direction from the person walking her without a fuss. Aspen isn't afraid when out for walks, and enjoys being taken out to new places. Loud sounds and traffic don't startle her, but she does try to avoid interaction with passers by and would be uncomfortable in busy areas with lots of people.
Once Aspen gets to know you and knows she can trust you, she is the sweetest, cuddliest girl! She happily runs up to greet us every morning and follows us around everywhere wanting more attention.
Aspen gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is friends with all her kennel mates. She is very playful and can spend hours running around the enclosure playing with her friends. She also enjoys playing with toys and she loves playing in water! Aspen would thrive in a home with a confident, playful dog, but would also be suited to a home as an only dog with a loving, patient family.
This poor girl never deserved to be abandoned... Could you be the one to show her the love of a forever home?
Aspen is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.
The dogs arrive in the Netherlands microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
