❄ What makes Anya special: her light freckles

Anya was one of our first rescues of 2025.

Poor Anya was living on the streets, having to fend for herself as a tiny little dog in an area with lots of big, territorial street dogs. Desperate for a family of her own, she tried to best to charm people by giving them her paw on command, and yet no-one wanted her.. Seeing how badly this poor girl wanted a home of her own, a local rescuer asked us for help..

We have no idea what happened in Anya's life before she ended up on the streets, but the experience left her very shy and distrustful towards strangers. With people she knows, she is the sweetest, gentlest and most affecionate little girl. She loves getting cuddles and being picked up, and lets herself be handled without a fuss. But it takes Anya a while to warm op to people, and she is very wary of strangers. When she sees someone approaching her kennel, she will bark out of fear. When the stranger comes in to her kennel, she will try to hide in the corner. Anya will need a patient family who is willing to take things at her pace and slowly build up a relationship of trust with her.

New dogs also make Anya nervous and she tries to avoid interacting with dogs she doesn't know. When a new dog is placed in her kennel, she is very friendly and will come up to say hello, but when she is outside of her comfort zone she will try to avoid interaction with new dogs at all cost. Once she gets to know the other dog, she is extremely friendly and she loves playing with other dogs. She has a small group of close friends in the enclosure and she spends all day playing with them.

Anya walks well on the lead and isn't particularly nervous when out and about. She likes going out for walks and isn't easily scared by traffic or sounds. As long as there aren't too many strangers around, she loves going out to explore!

In a calm stable household, with a patient adopter, Anya could finally be her happy self! Always up for some cuddles on your lap or playing with a toy, Anya is sure to bring lots of joy to her home. By adopting Anya and helping her see that she doens't have to be so scared, you will truly be transforming her life!

Anya is currently in Turkey and is ready to travel to the UK or the EU.

The dogs arrive in the Netherlands microchipped, up to date on their Rabies and Mixed vaccinations, spayed/neutered, dewormed and deflead and tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Leishmania and Anaplasma. The dogs visit the vets for a final health check before they travel. If needed, their teeth are cleaned and X-Rays are taken of any potential areas of concern. Any concerns or potential health issues we are aware of will be communicated with you beforehand.
